Red Hook

Red Hook is the oasis outside the City that's SO close to the City. An old fishing and shipping neighborhood, Red Hook houses some of the friendliest businesses - and people, in all of the five boroughs, due largely in part to its NYC meets New England vibes. You won't find high-end boutiques or five-star restaurants, but everything combined will make up an all-around five-star experience unlike any other in NYC (and, trust - you'll discover a handful of other gems not on this list, too).

You've probably indulged in the best key lime pie in NYC at one of the restaurants it's served in, or at a grocery store where it can be purchased (i.e. Union Market). But after a bike ride down Van Dyke St., you will be rewarded by a KLP covered in Belgian dark chocolate and served on a stick - The Swingle. You're welcome. The building, like many other locations in Red Hook, is situated right on the water looking directly west, featuring another (small, but charming) pier and park that offers (more) beautiful view. Treat yourself!
